One of the reasons I am so passionate about the work that I do is because I’ve been there.
Having suffered with regular bouts of severe low back pain throughout my 20s and 30s (I had the nickname 'glass back' at uni!), I sought help from the McTimoney student clinic in Manchester. After being adjusted there by Ceris Blomfield, DC, and Johanna McCormick, DC, I realised that I'd found a way of feeling better in myself as a whole. Simply put, I felt 'at ease' after starting chiropractic care.
Both of these wonderful chiropractors were then instrumental in encouraging me, at the age of 36, to truly realise my own potential and to join the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. After 5 years of studying, I graduated with a 1st Class Masters in Chiropractic.
Prior to training as a chiropractor, I qualified and worked as a Massage Therapist, using techniques such as sports and deep tissue massage, myofascial release, K-taping, lymphatic drainage, dry cupping, pregnancy massage and hot stone therapy, all of which still informs and enhances my work as chiropractor.

Jack founded Chews Health in 2013 as a company for his clinical consultancy, offering second opinions to local sports clubs and teams whose therapists and coaches were struggling to mastermind the recovery of some of their key athletes. As his philosophy and methods spread across the Physio profession and MSK industry a consultancy network emerged and eventually Chews Health services were sought after enough to need a bespoke facility.
Alongside his role as MD of Chews Health, Jack hosts The Physio Matters Podcast – a monthly show which goes out to over 20,000 therapists and is the director of MSKReform – a non-profit think-tank which is tasked with improving the industry to reduce the unjust variations in care standards. He lives locally with his wife Charlotte and their identical twin boys who are affectionately known across social media as ‘Test and Control’!
