About

Chiropractic specialises in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of muscular, skeletal conditions that arise from mechanical dysfunction. Treatment involves safe, gentle specific adjustments done manually to free tension in both joints and muscles, primarily around the spine. These adjustments help to restore normal alignment, relaxation of the muscle and help release nerve irritation.

My special interests are Applied Kinesiology and Proprioceptive Medicine. These techniques are used to assess the body to ascertain the most effective way of treating the affected area. Quite often, as well as treating the symptomatic area, treatment can be directed at an asymptomatic area, that once released allows the strain and consequent relief of symptoms.

Proprioceptive and Kinesiology assessment are ideally placed for assessing the body in this way.

Exercises are an important part of the healing process; an exercise programme will be given as well as postural and ergonomic advice. This advice will be given to aid recovery and maintain good health.

Being heavily involved in sport as a teenager and suffering a number of injuries and considerable low back problems this was when I first discovered Chiropractic which successfully kept me on the running track and rugby pitch. I have been enthusiastic and fascinated every since my first treatment. In 1992 I graduated from the Anglo European College of Chiropractors.

Having practised in Manchester for the last 30 years I worked with Scott Middleton for 8 years in Salford and Warrington and more recently, for the last 11 years at my own practice in Bolton. I have recently sold my practice in Bolton to be closer to my family – I now live 10 minutes from my new clinic in Lymm.

Registered with the G.C.C. and a Member of B.C.A

Jack founded Chews Health in 2013 as a company for his clinical consultancy, offering second opinions to local sports clubs and teams whose therapists and coaches were struggling to mastermind the recovery of some of their key athletes. As his philosophy and methods spread across the Physio profession and MSK industry a consultancy network emerged and eventually Chews Health services were sought after enough to need a bespoke facility.

Alongside his role as MD of Chews Health, Jack hosts The Physio Matters Podcast – a monthly show which goes out to over 20,000 therapists and is the director of MSKReform – a non-profit think-tank which is tasked with improving the industry to reduce the unjust variations in care standards. He lives locally with his wife Charlotte and their identical twin boys who are affectionately known across social media as ‘Test and Control’!
